That was a bit harsh, yes, but recommending anyone to run a windows box with
god knows how services and programs hidden from view without a firewall
is... well... a little odd.
He wanted a "personal firewall" - and if he doesn't have the money, time or
knowledge to setup some hardware solution - then a "personal firewall" is
far better than running "on luck" with MS's patches.....

We are talking Windows and firewalls for Windows here - so no sourcecode,
no - And?
I didn't choose his OS...

Running a portscan on a newly installed win2k server with and without any
"personal firewall" gives quite a clear picture...
