This may not be any help but I was having the same problem with my BEFSR41
going "numb" after a day or two. I finally figured out that it was my own
fault. When I had assigned a name to the router (a specific pc name is
required by my cable company) I had neglected to re-name the computer that I
had previously been using for ICS. So I had two locations on my LAN with the
same names. I should have known better, but it took me about a week of pulling
my hair out, calling, emailing. I'm not sure why it worked for a few days but
when it froze, the whole network was unable to access the internet. When I
renamed the PC, the problem stopped right away and has never returned.

Sometimes the simple things are those that we forget.
