I just upgraded from a 5 usable ip dsl setup to a 29 usable ip setup (/27)
with the setup I had before I just had a dsl bridge going to a switch then
all my pc's went to that switch and each was given a real ip. I also have a
NAT network but to simplify this question we won't bring in that on.(I have
a Linux box already masq'ing that network) So my new goal is to give every
PC on my network real ip's but to firewall them also. What's the best way to
do that? I could use a Linux box but can you put a real ip on Eth0 and a
real ip on eth1 and route that? would I have to subnet it myself to get that
to work? I have worked with a couple pix box setups and have always just
nat'ed the internal LAN and used conduits to map real ip's to nat'ed ones
but I don't want to go that route since that can cause trouble with
reversing things.
So I just need a firewall between my internal LAN and DSL modem using only
real ips with a block /27
Network block (this one is made up for this post) 66.33.45.64 /27
255.255.255.224
TIA,
Chris
