Go buy one of those cheapo netgear/linksys/<whatever>
router/gateway/firewall/switch boxes. They're cheap (cheaper than a lot of
software firewalls). They work. They don't eat your CPU cycles, cause your
system to reboot, lock up, or pop up lots of questions you don't know how to
answer. They do NAT, filtering, DHCP server, MAC spoofing (useful if you've
got an ISP that wants to charge you "per computer"), and other useful stuff.
They've got lots of nice blinking lights.
