I assume since you said "at the moment" you may be networking in the near
future. I have a broadband connection and a network behind a router - 2
desktops, network printer, and a laptop (off and on). I use the OutPost
firewall from www.agnitum.com works great. Very configurable if wanted, but
also great as is on install in case you don't want to spend a lot of time,
or want to take your time, configuring for your special needs. You can also
see a terrific online guide at http://outpost.spatialdisturbance.uk.co/
Their support forums are excellent. Most of the users are on Windows 2000.
Although there are many on WinXP and still a lot of us on Win98 SE. In the
forums you can talk to people with all sorts of various system and network
configurations and you will find them to be very helpful . go to
www.agnitum.com/forum
Have a good one,
Chris
