You hire a consultant at $125 an hour (or whatever you're paying) and come
to Usenet looking for advice.
Really, if you think they are not giving you your money's worth, fire them.
Are there any reasons to stay with 4.1? Well, let's see...
You bought 4.1.
NG doesn't have any new features you need in your network.
The Nokia came with 4.1 installed.
There actually are "issues" with NG (never used it, can't comment one
way or the other).
Some other perfectly sane reason.
I did a Nokia upgrade (IPSO and Checkpoint) for a client about a year ago.
In and out in 45 minutes.
The next day my manager shows me a message from the client who was
"concerned" because I didn't seem to know what I was doing (of course he
didn't seem to have the intestinal fortitude to express his "concerns" to my
face (or to do the upgrade himself for that matter)).
After I had upgraded the IPSO (and before I did the FW-1 upgrade) I did an
fwstart and the firewall didn't start up so I said "Looks like the old
firewall version won't run on this IPSO release." and this guy thinks I
don't know what I'm doing. Notice it didn't cause him to stop me completing
the job.
Please excuse my arrogance but I guess I'm a little thin skinned from
clients who are just certain their consultants know less than they do.
If you think your consultants are blowing smoke up your ***, get some new
consultants. Or, (of course) you could always do the work yourself...
