Found out some things. The protocol that is thwarted is SNTP, using port
123. Logging Dimension4 in Tiny is no use, because there's no logging at
all when I try to connect to an SNTP time server. As another program
(About Time) reports, the protocol is simply "unavailable" on my
computer.
Besides SNTP there are three more time services, which are not disabled
or unavailable on my pc (time/udp port 37, time/tcp port 37, daytime
port 13). I found that "my" time server (ntp0.nl.net) supports SNTP
*and* time/udp, so at least there's a simple practical solution,
changing only one setting in Dimension4.
