you simply DENY parasite.exe's access to the internet altogether. when it asks
for permission, say no...

actually, tiny and outpost are much more configureable than ZA (free version,
at least, the pro has more options from what i've heard). outpost and tiny let
you designate ports, directions, protocols, and even specific remote or local
addresses for programs (so, say, AOL instant messanger can only connect to
specific AOL-owned IP addresses).>If Outpost or Tiny do not ask in the way

in outpost there are many modes- allow all, allow most (except for those that
you haven't specifically blocked), block most (except what is specifically
allowed), and rules wizard - which is basically the same idea as zone alarm,
outpost alerts you of outgoing connections and, asks you to 'allow all,' 'block
all,' 'allow once,' 'block once,' or create a specified rule.

no, outpost and tiny (at least from what i can remember) both ask, and are much
more configureable than zone alarm. basically, zone alarm is very easy to use
and works pretty well- i had it for a long time- but if you want to be able to
specify ports/protocols/specific remote ip addresses, you'll either have to pay
for zone alarm pro or use something more like outpost or tiny. hth!
