Hi all,
i have two PCs: one with Win2k installed (let's call this PC win2k),
and the other with Windows NT 4 with Service Pack 6a (let's call this
PC winNT).
I've tried to log into the win2k domain from the windows NT 4 machine.
This isn't a problem no matter what LMcompatibilitylevel is set on
either machine.
When I set the LMcompatibilitylevel in win2K and winNT to 5, and
attempt to access shared folders from winNT, ie. Start > Run >
\\win2k, i'm prompted for a username and password (OK, this is
normal). But after giving a valid domain user's username and password,
access is not granted. However, when i give an invalid username, it
grants access to the folders.
According to what i've read, if i set both the machines to
LMcompatibilitylevel to 5, the client sent only NTLMv2 reponses, and
the server only accept NTLMv2 responses. But in my case, the server
still doesn't authenticate my client. i'm quite lost at what's
happening. any ideas to what could have went wrong???
