can't add the built-in group administrators to file permissions!

When I am working with the file permissions on my win2k server, I
cannot add the built-in group 'administrators' to my file permissions.
I can add anything else, including the administrator account, but the
administrators group doesn't show up as an available group. any ideas
on this are appreciated!
