Robert,
Seriously.
I'm a software developer.
I'm not a website designer. (And I think the market is flooded with that
specialty anyway).
I'm not a server farm administrator. (Anyway, that field has big problems
too...).
I'm not a teacher or author. (I would guess that field is saturated as
well).
I'm a software developer.
I have several copies of Linux as well as books about same. They're cheap,
so I got them. Never opened them, though, because I'd rather read Clive
Cussler if I have spare time.
Seriously.
I am a software developer. I've been a Software developer for a long time.
(Read DEC PDP-8)
What financial (feed my family ) motivation is there to take my time to get
involved in Linux?
I don't care how great Linux is. I don't care how neat it is to look at OS
source code. (Actually, I do use BSD Unix OS source as a resource sometimes.
My taxes paid for it, I can use it). I don't care how much fun it is...
(Been there, done that with AT&T Unix).
I really want to know how to make a living writing software professionally
under the free software concept.
Don't want to get rich. Just want to make a reasonable living (better then
delivering Papa John's at least) by writing software new software for a free
software OS.
Thos
