Hello all,
We asked our users at searchWebManagement to let us know what they
thought about hacker Adrian Lamo. The responses ran the gamut from:
"It's understandable that people feel vulnerable, but I think that
they should simply be grateful that Lamo hasn't done any damage to
their systems. Lamo should open a consulting firm if he plans on
continuing his behavior. It's not something they should prosecute him
for, but that doesn't mean it's ethical either."
"If I go around breaking into houses and businesses just to show them
how easy it can be done, would I be above the law? If I took advantage
of the POTS last mile (local loop) old copper infrastructure and wire
tapped people or business telephones, just because I could, and to
show how easy it is to do, would I be above the law? It is not a gray
area. If you break into someone's facilities without permission,
routers, switches, servers, where you don't have permission to be, you
have committed a crime."

Let me know what you think. Since this is a forum for security, I'm
interested in knowing your opinion. Check out our Web security forum
if you want and post it there.
Hope all is well,
