Encrypted containers

Hello,

I previously posted this on a different newsgroup and got no reply. thought I would try my luck here.

I want to implement some type of security measure for the sensitive data on my computer.

During my research, I came across an article on encrypted containers in link below and decided this looked like a good technique for me to implement. The key is stored on a USB drive and the file encrypt and decrypt on the fly.

The article is located at: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8599

I am running:

KDE 3.4 PowerPack
Mandriva 2006 X_64 PowerPack
Linux 2.6.12-12mdksmp
x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+

Any advice about this encryption technique / protecting my info in this manner before I start down this path is greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Dave
