Thank You all for your help.
I never would have believed so many folks would help such a newb as
myself to such exhaustive measures. I have probably spent all-told
somewhere between 12 to 15 hrs trying to sort out where that ruleset
was coming from. My system isn't so complex that I couldn't get it
setup from scratch in about 8 hrs. The main thing was I got a hair up
my a$$ and decided I would find the bug and kill it. It became an
all-consuming obsession. Well enough is enough. To hell with it.
I've wiped the slate clean & reinstalled fedora core 3. Thank You agin
for your support. I promise no front-end gui firewall config tools
this time. (or if I do I'll be sure to remember which ones I used)
I'm thinking Shorewall this time around. Thank You again for all your
help. I hate to *** out like this but I need that machine
functioning.
