google.com should redirect you to the google cluster that is the closest
to you. So there is a 'chance' that that cluser is down for an unknown
reason and that the load balancer needs some time to redirect you to
another one.
Maybe you should try to use the local domainnames like www.google.co.uk
of google.be, google.ca ...
