For those who have just arrived, and for the readers who have not been
keeping up-to-date, DNS poisoning is still active and alive. A recent
update from SANS is here:

There are ways, previously published, to protect yourself. If you are not
updated on this issue, you are advised to not log on to any site that
requires a password. SANS has more details, if you look.
If you are running a BIND 4 or BIND 8 (or other insecure DNS) server,
please update to BIND 9. Thank you.
If you are a normal user like I am, be sure to check your URL/IP_address
resolutions before logging on to any site (financial, e-mail, etc) that
requires a password.
