RTFM - there is an excellent LDAP howto for Linux which covers client
configuration (the LDAP Implementation Howto). You'll need to setp pam to
process authentication, nss for ldap lookups. Try

for some hints.
Don't know about automount - but google seems to have lots of references
again.
