Well, since FreeSWAN has discontinued support, I'd spend just so long
trying to get this going.
If you have the opportunity to design both ends of the VPN to your own
specs you might want to try this VPN:
http://openvpn.sourceforge.net/
It's not IPSEC, but it does use SSL, should be secure enough for most
security folks.
