I would highly recommend using loop-aes for your loop back crypted file
system exploits. I have been using loop-aes here for about 2 years and it
has worked well for me. I played with the cryptapi in the kernel for a
short period of time, and it ended up eating all my data one day....

Normally I would recommend using something like 'apg' to generate a long
key (ie ~1024 characters), write it out to a file, then gpg encrypt it to
yourself, and put it on a USB key and keep it with you...

Good Luck!
