Thanks everyone for the previous questions/answers on NIC
fingerprinting.....
but here goes again....
It is possible to determine what OS a computer is running remotely by
sending it certain packets and checking the behavious of how that computer
responds to those packets......the is OS fingerprinting
I was wandering if a similair method is possible but rather than determine
the remote machines OS, it can determine the remote machines wireless NIC
manufacturer....this information can then be compared to the first three
bytes of the MAC address to attempt to discover if the MAC address has been
spoofed....
the question is, what method(s) can be used to try and fingerprint a
remote wireless NIC?
If I can monitor a machines wireless traffic, will different wireless nics
transmit their wireless signals differently and allow me to determine which
wireless NIC is being used?
Thanks again
thanks,
