I was a bit premature in declaring that everything is up and running. The
initial solution from Iain enable my USB Netgear MA101 wireless NIC to
obtain an IP address via DHCP from the AP. But nothing has worked after
that. Even though the NIC has a valid IP, I am unable to ping any address on
the network (I get Unreachable Destination errors). After using iwconfig to
set WEP for the NIC, I use the Network Configuration UI to activate the NIC
and for some strange reason, WEP gets turned off once the NIC become active.
>From that point on I am unable get the USB NIC to ping anything even if I
set WEP again.
Once again, with WEP disabled the NIC works.

Does anyone know what is going on or where to look to debug this?? How do I
activate a NIC without using the UI?
