Thanks to all that responded. My ISP's newsserver seems to have dropped
all replies.. I got them off another server, a no-post one, so I'll have
to reply to myself..

It seems a general consensus that it's my ISP that is REJECTing port 80..
After searching my logs, I see that port 80 is not logged.

In reply to Tim Haynes, no, I have only this one computer. However,
when I did an nmap -sS against my IP address, my log _did_ show port 80
as being dropped, so I'd think that my firewall is doing its job. Would
this be compatible with what Luke Vogel suggested?

Thanks all for the input, I believe my question is answered.. And I
regret that I wasn't able to reply in context to the various replies..
blame my ISP.

One other thing.. while it's true that my ISP's dropping packets
destined for my Port 80 may be a service, it occurred to me that it also
make it impossible for me to host my own web site on Port 80 from this
site (although it would be pretty hard to run a web site from a dial-up
account anyway, with dynamic address assignment).. Well, this comment is
OT for cols, but I thought I'd add it.. Thanks again.
