Never have seen something the like. Which linux distribution and samba
packages + versions are you using ("rpm -qa | grep samba")? Is
smbmount/smbumount setuid root on your linux box? Which command did you
enter exactly? Please get used to be more precise!

I don't quite understand. You may login in by means of ssh/putty using
hostkey authentication without needing any password. There is no way to
bypass your windows pasword to ssh, at least none that I know of. You
normally don't have to su on linux because smbmount should work without
being setuid root. We'll see about that one.
