What is a mail server in your context? If it only provides SMTP
(sendmail) to the Internet, only 25 needs be open. If it provides other
protocols like POP-3 (110) and IMAP (143) to the INTERNET, then you have
to open appropriate ports. Depending on your configuration, you may
also need to open SSL (443), and so on.
