I'm having some trouble with a VPN client and am hoping someone might be
able to shed some light on what's going on. My old laptop used WinNT and
never had any trouble connecting through my Mandrake 7.2 server. The laptop
has been replaced with one running Win2K and I am no longer able to connect
(I get an error about host not responding). I'm not sure where the problem
is but I'd like to eliminate the server as a possibility.
The documentation regarding configuring VPN talks about opening ports 500
and 50 (something like that). I am running Portsentry in conjunction with
ipchains and never saw any error messages. I then ran Ethereal to see what
was happening and I see messages referencing "ISAKMP" and "agressive", but
no where do I see any mention of the specified ports.
Mandrake 7.2 server using 2.2.17-21mdk kernel. Like I said, previous laptop
with NT had no trouble, new laptop with Win2K can't connect.
Would like to pin this down to the source. Since I haven't made any changes
on the server the problem would likely be either some new requirement in
Linux to make it work or some configuration problem with Win2K on the
laptop.
Thanks,
Paul Nixon
