While there are some attempts at free virus scanners, keep in mind that
keeping the web site up, the datafiles up-to-date, and the research to
keep track of the viruses, and the bandwith for all those downloading, is
EXPENSIVE. No freebie is going to be able to meet those goals.

I use amavis+f-secure for an email virus scanner. It's cheap ($100 for
the f-secure license; amavis is free) and the updates seem to go on
forever.

I have not found anyone offering a reasonably priced html scanner - those
get pricy.

f-secure for linux is sold as a single user/machine license. It scans files. So
the single user is root, and it scans both email (via amavis) and the
disk (via cron).

Works like a charm, too.

Just my $0.02 - I strongly support GPL stuff, but there are times when
you must pay for support/performance.
