Ya know - that's funny. Got your Social Security card handy? Look at
the bottom of it, and tell me what you see. Both my wife's card (Form
OA-702 Rev. (4-56)) and mine (no date or form number - a replacement card
issued in 1993) plainly state:

       FOR SOCIAL SECURITY PURPOSES . NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION

which is why either of us can offer US Passports if proof is needed of
citizenship. 'course, most people haven't a clue what a passport is, or
what it looks like... but a SS card with no picture, no _nuthin_

And I'll bet it's absolutely impossible to get a fake SS card or even a
decent fake drivers license for anything less than fifty bucks. Want a
"Green Card" (which isn't green, and hasn't been so for several decades)?
Nah, you couldn't _possibly_ get one of those.
