I use NIS 2005 and I'm quite happy with it. I have it installed on two
machines, with no issues whatsoever with updates and such. I have even
installed it multiple times (each machine has been reformatted once)
without any indication from Symantec that this was a problem. Both copies
reactivated and installed all updates without a hitch.
I have only good things to say about Symantec. The product has always
worked flawlessly on both machines. My wife and I both work from home and
during major virus outbreaks we receive anywhere from 1 - 50 infected
emails a day; yet neither machine has ever been compromised. So in *my*
experience, the virus detection is adequate.
I can't comment on McAfee, I've never used it.
