As far as protecting Win98, you are out of luck, for Win98 uses FAT and
FAT32. If you had NT/2000/XP, you could have used NTFS to protect the
directory...There is no protection on Win98. There are some 3rd pary
utilities that allow directory protection, but then you are using a
non-standard protocol to protect your data.
If you have a Local Area Network, it may be possible to "redirect" the data
to a network share. That would give you some protection.
