| often... I've destroyed old backup tapes by the time-honoured method of
| disassembling the cartridge, spilling the tape into a bin, cutting
| through the whole wad of tape a couple of times and spinning it around
| a bit, then going through the whole mess with a magnet a couple of
| times.

| Works for a single DLT, maybe even two (boy, there's a lot of tape in a
| single cartridge), but you wouldn't want to do this every day :-)

I once got some students to unravel and cut up about 20 old DAT tapes -
they were happy to spend HOURS on it in their lunchtimes. Know any local
primary schools?
