Did you look at l0phtcrack? If w2k is the same as NT, the sam file is
the encrypted passwd file. I just tried to run john the ripper on it
but it wouldn't go. A quick look at the example file gave me the
following tidbit of info
If you're going to crack AFS or NT passwords, then use 'unafs' or
Jeremy Allison's PWDump (ftp://samba.anu.edu.au/pub/samba/pwdump/),
respectively.
So that's another possibiity. If I remember correctly the sam file is
DES encrypted but don't hold me to it.
