Cracking admin password on Win 2000; then putting it back?

I've spend the evening reading a number of web sites offering tools to deal
with getting past the administrator password of Windows 2000. I have not
found the one feature I really need: The ability to put things back the way
they were.

The situation is a locked-down corporate box; so locked down you can't even
change the contents of the Start menu or your monitor resolution. I want to
get in to Windows, make a few changes, and then put it back the way I found
it. I don't mind if IT comes by and finds some things modified, but I don't
want IT to find the old password doesn't work.

Does such a solution exist? I don't mind paying for software. Thanks.
