No confusion. I designed and own www.24it.co.uk (hosting section being
updated, ignore the broken link). My company provides support to business
and home users alike, I prefer to send others to do the work and take a
cut, but sometimes I do the work myself.

I have built around 12 or so PC's, and I worked as the sole IT contractor
for a large financial company for 4 years, I carried out all hardware /
software upgrades, and provided 24 hour support via telephone and in person
for a whole range of problems. I also designed and managed a ticketing
system for this company which made it easier for me to provide a more
streamlined service. I really meant to say in my last post that my
attention over the past year or two has strictly been on the design and app
dev side of things, and I have not focused at all on HARDWARE / SOFTWARE /
SECURITY. I merely wanted to know if there was any other cool software I
could load to protect my new PC - I have had a particularly bad few months
due to one or two well known, super nasty bugs.

I realise my last post seemed very laid back with regards to a firewall, but
in reality this is because I am 99.9% sure that my Wireless Router is in
fact a hardware firewall with only the necessary ports open as default. I
have participated in various online port scanning tests and firewall tests,
and they all claim I am protected.

Since reading this, I have added some more software:

Currently running (as well as the router hardware firewall):

- Norton Anti Virus 2004 (How does this compare to MacAfee?)
- Adaware PRO
- Adwatcg
- Trojan Hunter 3
- SP2 with windows firewall enabled

Anything else I should install? :)

Gary.
