One has to be somewhat careful with managing services in XP, and there
are some differences of opinion about which are superfluous. Blackviper
is good, the following two links might offer some additional
information. Note that to prevent completely gorphing your XP, change
the settings for a few at a time, reboot and verify that everything
works. Been there, done that modify all of them, and have to start over
when the problem source was indeterminate.
