It makes no difference what Alan thinks he is doing, the best
advice for you (and again, this is almost regardless of what you
are doing too) is to ignore him. Unless you want to play, of
course. He is fun to tweek! (I'm sure of it, he's killfiled me

Fine. If you want to advocate Winodws, you should probably drop
the crossposting to Linux groups. Likewise if you want to advocate
Linux, dump the Windows groups.

Well... if its flaming you like... you certainly are going about
it correctly! (I just don't see anything relating to "useful
communications"...)

That's a bit of a contradiction.

Why would you expect Microsoft to make progress in that area? Will
they make more money if they do? No? (Then they won't.)

That is proof positive that Microsoft does *not* need to do anything
right in order to get customers.

That I fully agree with. And of course Linux has been
successful in those terms since late 1992 or early 1993 in my
book. Some might say really that didn't happen until v 1.0 came
out, but I certainly wouldn't have traded Linux for anything
Microsoft had in January of 1993. That, btw, is when I gave up
ATT's System V and moved to Linux.
