Spyware Help

I am looking for some good spyware(school environment want something that
records like a vcr) I have tested spynet and it seems very good but at $50
a shot kinda pricey, is there anything out there that is freeware but does
the same stuff, if not can anyone offer alternatives to spynet, and why it
is a better alternative?
