Considering it tells you about it at every opportunity, I don't think
spyware is an appropriate term.
It has a feature (pageranking) that requires it to obtain the rank from
google in order to display it on your computer. That obviously means it
needs to tell google what site you want the rank for. If you enable this
feature you get a popup warning you of the privacy concerns. You can also
choose to download a version that doesn't have the feature in it at all and
you're forced to make that choice at the time of download.
