This is a feature (!)
It's the same idea ('explorer' code?) behind
copy file.xls file.whateverext
start file.whateverext
...starts Excel.
Also works for all the other Office apps.
Rule: Don't trust extentions.
This even works if you email file.whateverext to someone,
they save the attachment and then double click it.....

Making some tests and analisys I have just realised a bug (?) in
Internet Explorer 5.0. If you rename a GIF or JPG file to TXT, IE
cant open it, it just stares and finishes cancelling.
So IE cant open TXTs files wich start with:
GIF89a --->for gif files
for jpgs i am not sure
