Slightly off topic, but hopefully it gets through.

I am currently in a situation where by the Network Monitoring solution
resides on a Sun V880 box, which runs HP OV, Cacti, and a few other
network goodies, but management are looking to rationalise support
costs and want to move over to a Windows systems, running these tools
within a VMware ESX instance.

I am looking for information on the performance of a Windows/VMware
solution managing around 8000 nodes and any security implications of
such a solution, including performance.

Any info is appreciated.
