RE: Advice on security certifications (CPTS yes or no)

The most prestigious are the SANS GIAC GSE's.
See http://www2.giac.org/gsx.php

CISSP is a good to have as it is a tick box item for HR. The SANS
courses will do more to demonstrate knowledge though. This is
particularly true if you are one of the FEW people to do the Gold
levels.

CPTS Certified Pen Testing Specialist and then CPTE Certified Pen
Testing Expert are ok, but they are not well known outside of the
security community (i.e. HR) and then they are also (in my opinion) not
equal to the SANS training (cheaper though).

Subject: Advice on security certifications (CPTS yes or no)

Hi list,

stumbling around in various certification scenarios I'm trying to
achieve the most prestigous one aside from CISSP (which is certainly an
option for the not so near future).

I'm MCSA and i'm extending the cert to MCSA + security, but beside that
I was considering a "real" security cert like CPTS.

Are there any certifications that are better (=more valuable) than CPTS?
I'm especially interested in offensive security.

I hope you can tell me the virtues and downsides of CPTS-like certs.
TIA.

Cheers,
Markus
