SSL certificate pass phase in apache

Hi
If anybody have been worked with Apache + mod_ssl for ceriticates,knows that we need to get rid of the pass phase that we set when we creating our private key(i mean 3des key).
I want to know what is the normal approach that can be used for sending this pass phase to apache?
