If you can get ahold of an old pc you could install a Linux distro. Set this machine as your gateway, and use SQUID http://www.squid-cache.org/ to proxy to the other machines. You can control what IP on your network is allowed what content, or using the deny list remove all unwanted content. The cost to you is the price of an inexpensive pc, and a little time in configuring it. It would also offer you a log of requested sites including the ip of the box that requested it. So if you suspect one of the kids is going to some site you wish them not to you have proof. Because it's on linux the user account need only known to you and your spouse to prevent hacking from one of your kids to try and bypass the proxy. Of course you would need to also setup IPTABLES http://www.netfilter.org/ and rulesets for connections. Otherwise they would be able to bypass the proxy server altogether and go direct connect. Kids are devious and smart when trying to outfox the parents.
