Nmap may !seem! slow due to three things:
1. you are trying to resolve reverse dns
2. you are using a slow scan method
3. the system you are using is SLOW
* You can turn off dns resolution via the -n option
* You can scan at different speeds using the -T option going from SLOW
to FAST {Paranoid|Sneaky|Polite|Normal|Aggressive|Insane}
To scan at the fastest speed possible, your command would like so:
nmap -sP -T Insane -n x.x.x.x/8

Subject: Ping Tool
Hello List,
I want to know if some tool is available for generating the Host-list in
the LAN(nmap takes a long time for Class-A range.) .The extra feature I
want is this tool should be capable of updating the list when new hosts
come up in the LAN , and should delete the Hosts from the list which are
not responding for a long time.
How do I write such a utility, any pointers ? or any links for any such
tool already available.
Thankyou and regards
Sonika
