    I understand you may be looking for non-commercial stuff. But eSafe
    Gateway (aladdin software) does this very well. I wouldn't run it *as*
    your firewall, but it works very nicely placed directly behind one. Not
    the cheapest solution out there, but it's worked very well for our
    customers.

    A drawback is that it doesn't nab nasties out of non-standard ports.
    But it sweeps smtp, http, ftp, and pop3 very well, stripping out spam
    and malware using a whole big mix of technologies.
