Do you run a Novell Client if so there are know issues with it
There are issues with the Client it self
two thing that we did to resolve this issue was
First, update the Novell Client v4.9
Second, Turn off File caching with in the novell client
Click Red icon in the lower right Conner near the time & date
there should be a little red N icon,
Click on Novell Client Properties / Advance Settings Tab / File Caching
(setting with in Advance Setting tab) - Select off
Then reboot
That has fix your problem with open Office files
Hope this helps out

If you're running Symantec AV, take a look at the top item at
http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?date=2004-01-08 . Since there's an MS Office
plugin, I don't know that just disabling AV would correct this. I don't use
it myself.

|
|Hi guys,
|
|I have a problem with a site ..
|
|When the PC is connected to the LAN, opening local Excel and Word files
|take abnormally long time .. disabling the AV does not make a
|difference
|.. and a lot of SYNs are shown to the Verisign IPs of
|crl.verisign.com ..
|198.49.161.200 - 198.49.161.205 - 198.49.161.206
|
|However, if the Network cable is disconnected, the Excel and Word files
|open faster ... with no connections attempted to crl.verisign.com ..
|
|Anyone have any idea what could be the cause ?
|
|Thanks in advance ..
|
|Naren
