I would suggest running both ad-aware and spybot search and destroy. They
are both free and one usually misses items that the other one catches. What
is considered "Spyware" is not always largely agreed upon. The last thing
that you should be relying on is a virus scanner that claims to detect
Spyware. I have not found one yet that comes close to detecting the number
of items that Spybot search and destroy or Ad Aware does. Heck most let
Hotbar pass undetected even while it is pummeling your workstation with
    popups.
