I read somewhere that you cannot use the SUS on a domain controller. I just
recently installed SUS on my win2k server running AD, DNS, and DC. So far,
i can't tell if this is working. I tried installing the client software,
but it keeps on telling me that i need to be running windows 2000 or windows
XP, which i am running the latter. Does anybody have any suggestions to
tell is SUS is working correctly?

    Microsoft Software Update Services.

Basically a company-internal version of Windows Update. Note that
you can't use it to apply service packs; but it's *great* for applying
other patches. And it's one product that you don't have to pay MS
    for. :-)

We've been using it for patch deployment for over a year now, and it
works great. Takes all the manual labor out of keeping our systems
    up to date.
