Unless something has gone horribly amiss, Gnucleus (an open-source gnutella client) is spyware/adware free. They only have a windows client, though. Go to http://www.gnutella.com/connect/ for a list of gnutella clients, then google it, like 'gnucleus spyware' and see what comes up.

Depending on which version you are using....there may very well be spyware
involved.
