All you have to do is set the BIOS to boot to IDE0 or SCSI0 1st.
Then password protect the BIOS.
If you are REALLY worried, lock the case, and then you can't boot to a CD/floppy
to overwirte the admin password.

Which of course begs the question, "Why bother with password security on
WinXP at all?"...

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. Several people recommended using
one of several Linux boot disk utilities. I tried a couple of the
utilities and found that RAWRITE2 program worked the best (and the
easiest). The RAWRITE2.exe program can be found at the following link.
RAWRITE2 was able to reset the Admin password on Win2K and WinXP without
any trouble.

Thank you everyone for your help.

Subject: WinXP Password Recovery

Does anyone know of an easy way to recover the local admin password on a
WinXP box? I have an administrator who has forgotten the local admin
password and cannot log onto the box. There is no other users setup and
this computer is not a member of the Win2K domain.

I am hoping to find a quick solution that does not require a PO in order
to order software.

Thanks,

Bryan
