I also cannot afford to nuke the two Win2K servers that I administer, so
I used my Win2K Pro workstation as a test. My advise would be to not
install SP3 until MS works out the bugs; it hosed my workstation
terrible!! I'm running a dual PIII 733MHz machine and it was running
like a 486. It took me about 2 hours to get the service pack
uninstalled and my system to SP2 level. Now, things are working great.

Does anybody have any info on what exactly MS changed in SP3? I
searched the Microsoft site and couldn't find one document about SP3.
The only change that I noted was a new section in "Add/Remove Programs"
that allows you to change your default browser, E-mail and media
player.

Today Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 was released at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/win2000platform/SP/SP3/NT5/EN-US/
w2ksp3.exe

The only Win 2k server we have is mission critical and I cannot afford
to nuke
it with a new SP.
We do not have a "test box", where I know some people who work for
larger
companies do have such a useful resource, so when you install this SP,
please let me know how it went (any issues, or does everything still
run
smoothly).
I plan to patch the server next week if all goes well.
Thanks,
Russell
